Assalamu Alaykum, I am Ibrahim, a third year PPE-ist at St. Hugh’s. As the Brothers VP I am responsible for the oversight of the Religious Education Officer, and the Alumni and Graduate Chairs. Please don’t hesitate to contact me regarding any suggestions or concerns you might have surrounding these areas. I am also a regular attendee of many ISOC events so feel free to talk to me about anything more general. On the authority of Anas (ra) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (saw) say, “Allah the Almighty has said: ‘O Son of Adam, as long as you invoke Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O Son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and you then asked forgiveness from Me, I would forgive you. O Son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the Earth, and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it [too].’ ” [Tirmidhi]

Asalaamu-alaikum! I'm Basim, a first year studying Maths and Computer Science at New College. As the current Treasurer, I'll be managing all the funding, budgeting and payments over the upcoming year insha-Allah. The OUIsoc is an incredibly diverse and active society which has had a massive positive impact on many Muslim students in Oxford - myself included. Please don't hesitate to contact me via email or WhatsApp about any financial concerns/suggestions and about life as a Muslim in Oxford. I'm also regularly around the prayer room so feel free to stop me for a general chat! Your Lord said to the angels, "Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority (mankind)." They said, "Will You place upon it one who causes corruption therein and sheds blood, while we declare Your praise and sanctify You?" Allah said, "Indeed, I know that which you do not know." - Qur'an 2:30

Assalaamu Alaykum, I’m Zamin, a third year medical student at Lady Margaret Hall, and I am honoured to be serving on the Committee this year. As Student Affairs Chair for 2019-20, my main role is to oversee and attend to all aspects of student welfare. This can include helping students seek housing, books and academic and financial support. I’m always up for a confidential chat about any concerns you may have so please feel free to get in contact via email, Facebook or WhatsApp, or of course in person if you see me around anytime! Oh you who believe, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives. Whether one is rich or poor, Allah is more worthy of both. So do not follow inclination, lest you be unjust. And if you distort or refuse [to give your testimony], then indeed Allah is ever-Acquainted with what you do. (4:135)

Salaam. I'm AbdurRasheed, a second year physicist at Keble College. My role as Islamic Awareness Officer means that I am primarily in charge of running interfaith events, such as panel discussions and formal dinners, and the annual Discover Islam Week. Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth; and the variation of the night and the day; and the ships that run upon the sea with what benefits mankind; and the water God sends down from the sky whereby He revives the earth after its death, scattering all manner of beasts therein; and the shifting of the winds; and the clouds subdued between the sky and the earth are surely signs for a people who understand. [Qur'an 2:164]
