As Salamu Alaykum, I'm Mehreen, one of the welfare and social officers this year. I organise fun and welcoming events for the sisters to enjoy each other's company in the remembrance of Allah. I'm super excited to meet the freshers and support students with whatever they need, or even for a fun chat :)

Assalamualaikum,

As WoS, I aim to make your time with OUISoc special by running a host of unforgettable events. Anyone needing friendly advice or a listening ear will find that I am quite approachable (and a little too easy to find given I should be revising for my degree). If we haven't yet met, I'd love for you to come say salam and you'll hopefully be met with a face filled with joy and eagerness to get to know you. I hope you have a wonderful time with OUISoc and feel the deep sense of community we share.

”Indeed, the righteous will have salvation—”
- {Qur’an 78:31}

Absolutely — here’s a friendly, first-person bio that sounds natural and warm:

As the Graduate Welfare & Social Events Officer, I focus on creating a safe, welcoming space for graduate sisters within Oxford University Islamic Society. I support sisters’ wellbeing, help them feel settled and connected, and aim to make ISoc feel like a community they truly belong in. I also help organise fun, inclusive social events and act as a friendly point of contact for any graduate sisters who want support, have questions, or just want someone to talk to.

"Allah does not require of any soul more than what it can afford. All good will be for its own benefit, and all evil will be to its own loss. ˹The believers pray,˺ “Our Lord! Do not punish us if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord! Do not place a burden on us like the one you placed on those before us. Our Lord! Do not burden us with what we cannot bear. Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy on us. You are our ˹only˺ Guardian. So grant us victory over the disbelieving people."
- {Qur’an 2:286}

Nada Omar
Graduate Welfare & Social Officer
4th year | Chemistry | Exeter College

Asalaamualaikum, I’m Roukéya, the Student Affairs Officer of OUISoc! Whether your concerns are social, structural or academic, I am dedicated to helping you navigate them in order to optimise your experience here at Oxford, be it at the college or departmental level. I accept this role with a huge amount of gratitude — it is truly a privilege to be able to connect with and aid my peers for the sake of Allah!

”˹Allah will say to the righteous,˺ “O tranquil soul! Return to your Lord, well pleased ˹with Him˺ and well pleasing ˹to Him˺. So join My servants, and enter My Paradise.”
- {Qur’an 89:27-30}

Roukéya Diallo

Assalaamu’alaykum! I’m Jennah, a medic at Queen’s, and I’ll be your access director this year. Over the coming year, the Access Team will in’sha’Allah be running a range of initiatives designed to facilitate greater exposure to Oxford and to support students at every stage of the application process. Our work aims to make Oxford feel more approachable and instilling in students the conviction that this is a place where we belong, while affirming that our deen remains integral to shaping our experience here. We want provide an ongoing support system, rather than a series of disjointed events - something that students can consistently rely on throughout their journey.

"Say, “Nothing will ever befall us except what Allah has destined for us. He is our Protector.” So in Allah let the believers put their trust."
- {Qur’an 09:51}
