Letter from the President

Assalamu’Alaikum, may peace and blessings be upon you.

I am delighted to welcome you to the Oxford Islamic Society! We are dedicated to serving the needs of Muslim students at Oxford, aiming to support the social, spiritual, and personal welfare of all our members.

We are proud to be one of the largest and most active societies at Oxford!

We offer an extensive range of provisions for the community and host a variety of exciting events throughout the year. No matter what your interests are, the Oxford ISoc has something for you!

Join us for an array of social events, including game nights, dinners at restaurants, punting excursions, pizza gatherings in the prayer room, and a range of other engaging activities. These events provide the perfect opportunity to forge lifelong friendships.

Experience solace and growth through our wide range of spiritual events, catered to all levels. From hosting esteemed speakers to conducting a weekly Qur’an Tafsir class to organising reflection circles, we ensure there’s something enriching for everyone.

Before coming to Oxford, I was worried about how welcoming I would find the unfamiliar environment. I was grateful to find a tight-knit community of brothers and sisters who look out for their fellow Muslims. I found my home away from home at Oxford, and I pray that you will find yours too.

Our ISoc truly has something to engage every member. To get a glimpse of our vibrant society and stay updated with our upcoming events and initiatives, follow us on Instagram: @oxforduni_isoc

Should you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Feel free to join us at our future events. We look forward to meeting and welcoming you in person to our community.

Assalamu’Alaikum

Aman Sultan

OUISoc President 24/25

What We Do

Our ISoc is a student-run body and serves as the focal point for Muslims in Oxford. We have an open and diverse membership, and a reputation for being amongst the University’s most vibrant and active societies. We aim to organise a host of different activities, services and events to engage and bring together the Muslim community in Oxford.

Events

We host a wide array of events throughout the year, ranging from religious educational events to our popular socials. We also run events that engage with our local communities and offer opportunities for non-Muslims to discover more about our religion.

Religious Education

We host a wide range of religious educational events, from speaker events to regular Islamic classes at both intensive and beginner levels.

Outreach

Our goal is to inspire Muslims students who have the potential to thrive at Oxford and equip them with the skills required to do so. The Oxford Muslim Access Conference has been launched to address the barriers affecting Muslim students applying to top institutions.
