The OUISoc graduate community is a safe space to release the stresses from your academic life and relax with your fellow grads. With various social and academic events held regularly, our community provides something for everyone. As such, all are welcome at our events and we often find even undergraduates in attendance. Our community is a great place to help get settled into life in Oxford and we plan to make the most of your time here.

Graduate Academic Events

Our grad community is incredibly diverse, with Muslim students from all over the world studying topics from history and Islamic studies through to astrophysics and medicine. We host a variety of academic events throughout the year, including PhD research showcases and academic advice sessions.

There are many brilliant minds within our student body and it is always a joy to learn more from one another. One of the highlights every year is the Oxford Muslim Research Showcase (OMRC), attended by graduates and undergraduates from all over the country.

Graduate Social Events

Even though grads work throughout the year, we never forget how to have fun. Oxford is not just about the degree after all - it's an experience! Our social events are incredibly varied and change year to year, but these often take the form of picnics, college dinners and excursions around the city.

In the past, we have visited the Harcourt Arboretum here in Oxford and even taken a short hop across the water to see the Isle of Wight. New grad students often look forward to the Graduate Freshers' Dinner (usually hosted at one of the city's choice halal restaurants), a chance to meet new and old students alike. Our welfare officer is also friendly and approachable, should you ever need a helping hand.
